Our Vision
Did you know that only 27% of people feel confident in their ability to grow a plant? At Garden Man Dan, we’re committed to changing that.
Dan founded The Burly Farmer just over seven years ago from a passion for learning to grow our own food on small, often unused plots of land.
Neither Tom nor I owned any land at the time. Our approach focuses on high-intensity farming and regenerative soil practices, allowing us to rotate crops and beds multiple times during the growing season. With the rising cost of food and the declining quality of what we eat, the knowledge of how to grow your own food has become more essential than ever. Many people feel overwhelmed by the idea of starting their own garden, unsure of layout, spacing, bed preparation, and composting. Our mission is to remove this doubt and empower individuals to reclaim their food security, which has been lost over the past two generations.
Many view gardening as daunting, but it often takes just as much time as mowing and raking the lawn! Plus, once planted, fruit trees and berry bushes return year after year, providing an abundant source of fresh produce. We’re dedicated to sharing our expertise with the community, offering guidance and resources to help everyone embark on their own gardening journey. Join us in revitalizing local food production and rediscovering the joys of growing your own food!
